Alicia & Jimmy are MARRIED!
Alicia and Jimmy are MARRIED! What more can I say?! I’m SO excited for them! If you’ve kept up with my blog for any time now, you’ll know that Alicia is a very dear friend of mine. Shooting her wedding was extra special because I was so emotionally invested in her story with Jimmy from the get-go. You may remember their snowy engagement shoot from February, and you have probably already fallen in love with them and their story just like I have.
God has a funny way of working things sometimes – Alicia and Jimmy have been friends since middle school, but it wasn’t until recently that God called them to be in a relationship that would ultimately lead them to be marriage. I LOVE that! It’s a reminder that God has amazing plans for us and even when things don’t make sense, we have to trust in His leading, knowing He’ll take care of us. It’s SO evident because Alicia and Jimmy are simply perfect for each other!!
Their day was beautiful, God-honoring, and SO much fun! There were more tears and surprises at this wedding than any other, and I LOVED every minute of it! Here’s a peek at their day – enjoy!
I took some inspiration from Shaina for this shot!:)
I LOVED seeing this adorable scrapbook of pictures old and new!
I will never forget this moment. Alicia’s mom wasn’t in the hotel when she got dressed, so she had her own “first look” of sorts and saw Alicia for the first time ALL dressed and ready to go. Her reaction was so incredible that I had the biggest lump in my throat while I was shooting. It’s moments like these that make me fall in love with my job.
Alicia and Jimmy opted to do a first look, but wanted to have a moment together to pray before actually seeing each other – it was so sweet!
Checking out Jimmy’s socks!
Alicia!! You are so gorgeous!
It was raining almost the entire day, but any break from the rain we had, we ran out from cover and got some pictures – SO thankful for even a 3 minute break to get this view!
The raindrops almost look like snow, don’t they? Just like their engagement shoot:)
I love this! While we were all moving tables and chairs and preparing to take bridal party shots, Alicia was sitting and waiting and Matt snagged this gorgeous shot. I’m so thankful that he’s always looking out for amazing moments!
What a good-looking group!
I don’t normally post family formals on my blog, but I LOVED this spot so much it deserves to be shown off! What a perfect spot for family pictures!:)
Shaina and I hopped into a golf cart and followed the couple down to a scenic bride on the course! Despite the fact that I had never driven a golf cart and I almost drove us into a pond, it was well-worth it!:)
Preparing to walk down the aisle.
Moments before Alicia walked down the aisle, Jimmy’s mom reached over and hugged Alicia’s mom. It is such a beautiful picture of two families joining together in the celebration of their marriage!
Alicia and Jimmy had to move their wedding under cover because of the rain. The guests had to stand around, but I honestly LOVED it! It was so cozy and there was such a feeling of community and love in that place. Call it unconventional, but I think every wedding should be like this!:)
I can’t even try to take credit for this amazing shot (because I’m in it!) but I’m so thankful Matt grabbed this beautiful moment!!
Alicia and Jimmy chose to assemble a Unity Cross as a symbol of their marriage. The outside represents the groom, the leader of the family, a strong, protective exterior. The inside represents the bride, beautiful and intricate in design, and surrounded by the love and support of the groom. The cross is assembled with three pegs that hold it together, representing the Trinity – the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. What a beautiful picture of Christ as the center of their marriage!
They also wrote their own toasts to each other – amazing!
Heyyyy!! You’re married!
Alicia and her friends made homemade cookie dough and brownie pops for favors!
Alicia had lace from her mother’s wedding veil incorporated into her bouquet – love that!
I mean… if there’s a full-length mirror right next to me, you KNOW I’m going to shoot into it!
Alicia and Jimmy really wanted pictures around sunset, so they asked if we could step outside during dinner to grab a few. Of COURSE I said yes!!
Alicia was in an a cappella group at JMU called Into Hymn. Together, with members from three other JMU a cappella groups, they performed a surprise song for Alicia and Jimmy!
More surprises! Jimmy really wanted Alicia to sing to him at the wedding. Reluctant at first, Alicia finally agreed but did it as a surprise. She performed “Hey Ho” by the Lumineers along with one of her bridesmaids.
Even more surprises! Alicia and Jimmy surprised US! I can’t do this picture justice without the full story (which I shared on my blog yesterday – you can see that here!)
Allison Kinney (AK-47) is a friend from JMU whom I adore! She’s a DJ in NYC and is really making a name for herself. Matt and I have been big fans of hers from afar, but this was the first live event we had seen her do – she is INCREDIBLE. This girl seriously blew my mind!
Aaaand one more surprise… this time from Jimmy. He knelt down to retrieve the garter and removed…
Granny panties! Alicia’s reaction is priceless!
Thank you, Matt, for this awesome last dance shot!
Matt’s perspective – love this!
